Hot weather and sunlight reduce the spread of Covid-19

The research conducted by a group of scientists showed that the spread of the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) reduced in areas where warm weather and sunshine were longer.

In the research whose results were published in the journal "Scientific Reports", the experts taking into account factors such as temperature, the duration of insolation and humidity that vary according to the geographical location of the countries, concluded that there is an increase in the 4.3 percent in the number of Covid-19 cases per million people for each degree of increase in latitude from the equator.

In the study, data such as humidity, temperature and information on the duration of the sun from 117 countries were analyzed, as well as urbanization, the testing density of Covid-19, the proportion of the elderly population and expenses on care medical.

When the findings in countries with warmer climates are compared to those with colder climates, it showed a lower rate of Covid-19 cases.

On the other hand, the scientists affirmed that the research covered the period from the start of the epidemic to January 2021 , and it is not yet known whether the same results will be observed in the emerging variants of Covid-19.
