AMD
released its financial results for the First Quarter of 2021 (Q1 2021), revealing that it earned 3,445 million gross USD , 93% more than the same period of 2020.

However, this represents  a drop of 69% compared to Q4 2020 ($ 1,781M), which reveals the serious shortage problems that the company is going through by relying solely and exclusively on TSMC.

"Our business continued to accelerate in the first quarter driven by the best product portfolio in our history, strong execution and strong market demand," said Dr. Lisa Su, AMD president and CEO.

“We had phenomenal year-over-year revenue growth across all of our businesses and  data center revenue more than doubled . The increase in our full-year forecast highlights the strong growth we expect across our business, based on the increasing adoption of our high-performance computing products and expanding customer relationships, ”added Su.

If we go to the breakdown, we see that the Computing and Graphics sector was responsible for generating 2,100 million dollars , with a growth of 46% compared to Q1 2020. The Business, Embedded and Semi-Custom sector generated 1,345 million dollars, representing a growth of 286%, and obviously influenced by the launch of the next generation consoles.

After these data were released, the value of the company's shares soared 243% and the profit margin 94% to 1,587 million dollars.
